About The Position

This position is for a Supervisor within the Next Steps program in Enfield, CT. The Next Steps initiative is funded by DMHAS and DSS and aims to foster the creation and maintenance of permanent, affordable, service-supported housing for individuals with mental illness, chemical dependency, or both, who are homeless, at risk of homelessness, or repeatedly experience this risk. The program focuses on providing permanent housing, resulting in minimal movement and often operating off a waitlist. CHR has both a Manchester and an Enfield Next Steps program, and referrals must come through the Greater Hartford Coordinated Access Network (211).

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in social work, counseling, marriage and family therapy, education (PSS program only), psychology or related field; consideration will be given for those with a bachelor's degree in similar fields with five years of appropriate experience in some programs.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience providing direct services in a mental health related field.
  • If in a field that requires licensure, must have a provisional level license (LMSW, LMFT-A, LPC-A).

Nice To Haves

  • Supervisory experience preferred not required.
  • LCSW, LMFT, LPC preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides case consultation, direction and leadership within the team.
  • Ensures clients receive services that are focused on presenting problems and clients’ request for treatment.
  • Directs crisis intervention efforts and intervenes as required.
  • Monitors client meetings, admission, continued stay and discharge criteria.
  • Reviews caseloads regularly to ensure appropriate utilization of services.
  • Oversees hiring, training, and performance management of staff within the program.
  • Facilitates team meetings.
  • Participates in internal and external meetings as needed by program and agency.
  • Ensures client, program and agency documentation is completed in a timely manner and according to program, agency, funder and accreditation/licensing standards.
  • Acts as primary point person for program and provides back up coverage as needed by program and agency.
  • Ensures proper maintenance of vehicles/if applicable.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
