Summary: The Supervisor, Underground to oversee installation, maintenance, and repair of underground electrical systems for Duquesne Light Company (DLC). Reporting to the General Manager, Underground, the supervisor will oversee field crews, ensure compliance with safety standards, and coordinate projects to meet operational and regulatory requirements. Location: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at Preble Service Center

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Five (5) years related experience required.
  • Valid driver's license required, commercial driver’s license preferred
  • Must be able to work in all types of weather extremes.
  • Must be able to make clear concise decisions under stressful conditions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Thorough knowledge of construction methods, materials, and safe work practices.
  • Knowledge of the current Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Ability to supervise, evaluate, train, and motivate employees.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in underground construction, maintenance or operating experience will be given enhanced consideration.
  • Qualified Unrestricted Journey Splicer preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of Duquesne Light Company and government regulations including the National Electric Code is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Directs the construction and maintenance activities of field personnel to ensure maximum productivity, promote and enforce safety & achieve expected levels of performance.
  • Directs the scheduling & assignment of daily work to the Senior Splicers and other crew members to ensure timely completion of the work assignments.
  • Directs the proper & safe utilization of tools and mechanized equipment to ensure employee & public safety while achieving maximum productivity.
  • Interface with contractors, other utilities, customers, government bodies and all Duquesne Light Company departments to ensure cost effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Provide timely field data to ensure accurate accounting of plant records.
  • Directs timely ordering of materials and supplies to ensure maximum use of all resources.
  • Conducts training, development and counseling of personnel in the T&D Department to ensure the continuing development of individual skills for maximum job performance and to prepare the individuals for greater responsibilities.
  • Requires all personnel to follow all Company and Department procedures & regulations including all safety requirements.
  • The T&D Supervisor is required to be the "Duty Supervisor" on a rotating basis as well as rotating onto nights for weeks at a time
