About The Position

Effectively supervise and direct a team of hourly employees performing a variety of activities associated with longwall production. Maximize the overall efficiency and production of longwall section.

Requirements

  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED and relevant experience in related field of longwall mechanical and electrical maintenance.
  • Must be MSHA certified electrician (relevant state) or ability to obtain.
  • Must have high level of understanding of MSHA Mining Regulations and mechanical and electrical codes.
  • Mine Foreman Certification or ability to obtain.
  • Must communicate with others on shift and on adjacent shifts.
  • Must be willing to work on any assigned shift and on scheduled weekends.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience performing mechanical and electrical maintenance on underground coal mining equipment. (Experience maintaining similar equipment in another field may be substituted).
  • Must be a qualified MSHA electrician. (Underground low and medium voltage, surface low and medium voltage, underground/surface high voltage.)
  • Must have the ability to stand for prolonged periods of time on uneven, rocky surfaces for up to the entire length of the shift
  • Must have the ability to be seated for up to 4 hours to operate equipment or vehicles
  • Must have the ability to walk for up to 4 hours at a time. Will be required to walk through different sections of the mine with varying degrees of clearance and headroom
  • Must have the ability to wear required protective footwear, hearing and eye protection, and other personal protective equipment as required by Company and MSHA
  • Must have the ability to bend or stoop for a full work period as a result of mine height
  • Must have the ability to climb up and down stairs/steps and climb on and off equipment and ladders.
  • Must have the ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions (push, pull, twist, handle), and have rapid reflex movements of the arms and legs as well as good hand to eye coordination
  • Must have the ability to lift 25 to 50 pounds on a frequent basis and the ability to occasionally lift items weighing up to 80 pounds
  • Must have the ability to work in extreme conditions, including but not limited to changing weather conditions, dust, mud, water varying levels of noise from low to high decibels, varying degrees of light and dark, in and around artificial light and in a confined work area
  • The job requires that you be able to work various shifts (required shifts include days, evenings and nights with rotating schedules, weekends and holidays

Nice To Haves

  • Supervisor and/or crew lead experience preferred. Union supervisory experience is a plus
  • Mine examiner, manager, or foreman certification is desirable.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Experience in Success Factors, SAP and Kronos is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise crew to ensure longwall availability goals are being met, this includes direction of employees, safe work practices, and regulatory compliance.
  • Supervise longwall mechanical and electrical work, while coordinating preventive maintenance and repairs to equipment.
  • Provide oversight of daily work projects while ensuring parts are delivered to and from designated work areas.
  • Prepare and submit accurate and timely maintenance records.
  • Conduct crew safety and informational sharing meetings.
  • Complete employee’s daily time records in Kronos.
  • Monitor and maintain proper flow of parts and inventory.
  • Communicate major problems to Longwall Maintenance Coordinator.
  • Ensure all incidents and near misses are reported & investigated in line with site & Peabody Standards.
  • Ensure all required training and/or assigned projects are completed in a timely manner.
