Requirements

High school diploma or GED, and 5+ years of natural gas production, transmission, compression, storage, or related construction experience.
Associate degree or certificate in engineering technology or related technical discipline, and 3+ years of natural gas production, transmission, compression, storage, or related construction experience.
Bachelor's degree in an engineering or engineering technology discipline, and 1+ years of natural gas production, transmission, compression, storage, or related construction experience.
Security screening and passage of initial and potential random subsequent drug testing.
Proficiency in business unit-related software applications sufficient to apply them with minimal instruction or guidance (typically attainable through at least one year of substantive experience with the applications).
Effective communication (verbal and written) with individuals at all levels, inside and outside the Corporation.
Ability to travel and report for work at different locations (typically within the Corporation's service area); incumbents are responsible for their own transportation.
May be required to report to work at any time for priority/emergency response activities.
Must be available to work on-site at the assigned work location.
Must be available to perform a primary assignment in support of DTE’s emergency response to storms or other events that impact service to our customers.

Responsibilities

Supervision, coordination, and deployment of labor, equipment, and resources for all gas transmission, compression, storage, and production activities in a geographic area.
Coordination of activities with operating and support departments to ensure safe, reliable service and performance, while maintaining compliance with the State Gas Safety Code.
Administration, interpretation, and application of Code of Federal Regulation including OSHA and DOT regulations, MIOSHA Regulations, State Gas Safety Standards and Safety Rules, and DEQ/Environmental Rules.
Administration, interpretation, and application of Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs) and related Company standards, policies, and practices.
Administration, interpretation, and application of specifications and requirements for the design, installation, and operation of gas production, transmission, and storage operation facilities and equipment.
Development of a trained, productive, diverse, team-focused workforce; prioritizing, planning, scheduling, monitoring, and controlling work utilizing the Management Operating System.
Supervision and coordination of all operating activities in the area of responsibility and coordination of activities with other gas handling operating areas.
Supervision of resources and budgets ($2 million O&M and $2 million Construction) to meet Company goals and expectations for the production, transmission, and storage system, including budget preparation, monitoring, and ongoing budget review and forecasting.
Identification and promotion of discipline-related continuous improvement initiatives.
Providing leadership through example in a unionized environment, consistent with prevailing collective bargaining agreements.
Dealing effectively with resistance and taking positive steps to avoid the recurrence of errors through constructive critique.
Balancing multiple demands from superiors, subordinates, and peers in a positive and evenhanded fashion, displaying a calm demeanor under pressure.
Utilizing analytical and problem-solving skills to identify key issues from a broad range of alternatives and recommend optimal solutions.
