Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED, and 5+ years of natural gas production, transmission, compression, storage, or related construction experience.
  • Associate degree or certificate in engineering technology or related technical discipline, and 3+ years of natural gas production, transmission, compression, storage, or related construction experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering or engineering technology discipline, and 1+ years of natural gas production, transmission, compression, storage, or related construction experience.
  • Security screening and passage of initial and potential random subsequent drug testing.
  • Proficiency in business unit-related software applications (typically requires at least one year of substantive experience).
  • Effective communication (verbal and written) with individuals at all levels, inside and outside the Corporation.
  • Ability to travel and report for work at different locations (typically within the Corporation's service area); incumbents are responsible for their own transportation.
  • May be required to report to work at any time for priority/emergency response activities.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, coordinate, and deploy labor, equipment, and resources for all gas transmission, compression, storage, and production activities within a geographic area.
  • Coordinate activities with operating and support departments to ensure safe, reliable service and performance, while maintaining compliance with the State Gas Safety Code.
  • Administer, interpret, and apply Code of Federal Regulations (OSHA, DOT), MIOSHA Regulations, State Gas Safety Standards, Safety Rules, and DEQ/Environmental Rules.
  • Administer, interpret, and apply Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs) and related Company standards, policies, and practices.
  • Administer, interpret, and apply specifications and requirements for the design, installation, and operation of gas production, transmission, and storage facilities and equipment.
  • Develop a trained, productive, diverse, team-focused workforce.
  • Prioritize, plan, schedule, monitor, and control work utilizing the Management Operating System.
  • Supervise and coordinate all operating activities in the area of responsibility.
  • Coordinate activities with other gas handling operating areas.
  • Supervise resources and budgets totaling $2 million O&M and $2 million Construction to meet Company goals for the production, transmission, and storage system.
  • Manage budget preparation, monitoring, and ongoing budget review and forecasting to ensure targets are achieved.
  • Identify and promote discipline-related continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide leadership through example in a unionized environment, consistent with prevailing collective bargaining agreements.
  • Deal effectively with resistance and take positive steps to avoid the recurrence of errors through constructive critique.
  • Balance multiple demands from superiors, subordinates, and peers in a positive and evenhanded fashion, displaying a calm demeanor under pressure.
  • Utilize analytical and problem-solving skills to identify key issues and recommend optimal solutions.
