About The Position

AppDirect is seeking a motivated and hands-on tax professional to help build and shape a newly established tax function within a multinational organization. The ideal candidate will enjoy taking ownership, improving processes, and finding practical solutions to complex tax matters. This role requires comfort with both day-to-day tax responsibilities and contributing to the development of new procedures, controls, and best practices. A solid foundation in Canadian corporate taxation is essential, with an eagerness to expand knowledge in U.S. and international tax matters. The role thrives in a collaborative environment, requiring effective communication with finance and non-finance stakeholders, and a desire to shape the future of the company's tax function.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Taxation, Accounting, Management, or Business Administration
  • Solid foundation in Canadian Corporate taxation
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in taxation
  • Ability to adapt quickly in a dynamic and evolving environment
  • Strong time management and self-motivation skills, with the ability to complete tasks in an organized, structured, and efficient manner
  • Demonstrated judgment, initiative, autonomy, and a commitment to continuously expanding tax knowledge and enhancing technical expertise

Nice To Haves

  • Professional accounting designation (CPA)
  • Exposure to or knowledge of U.S. and international tax

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and manage the Group’s Canadian corporate income tax returns
  • Support U.S. and International Tax Consultants to prepare the Group’s Non-Canadian corporate income tax returns
  • Prepare global tax provisions
  • Prepare and oversee Indirect Tax Returns
  • Conduct tax research on various topics and analyze the Canadian and U.S. tax implications of new legislation related to the companies’ cross-border activities
  • Participate in the development and implementation of an internal corporate tax compliance process and the management of tax records
  • Coordinate and follow up with tax authorities (information requests, audits, proposed and final assessments, reassessments, and adjustment requests)
  • Ensure tax compliance through internal controls and recommend and implement measures to optimize controls and reduce corporate tax risks
  • Provide support on tax due diligence engagements by participating in the review and analysis of tax matters related to mergers, acquisitions, and other transactions
  • Provide timely support to internal stakeholders and assume a supervisory role over certain processes assigned by the Director, Tax
  • Maintain up-to-date tax documentation and internal policies
