This role possesses expert knowledge and clinical skill to oversee the day-to-day operations of the department, ensuring quality and compliance of all policies, procedures, and regulatory agencies. The position involves communicating and facilitating conflict resolution, developing employee schedules, collaborating on performance measures, and assisting in staff training and development. It also provides supervision, feedback, and support to social workers and the care management department, as well as oversight for social work students. The role requires understanding critical components for achieving results and assisting in hiring, orienting, counseling, educating, disciplining, and terminating staff when necessary. Additionally, it involves assisting with discharge planning and social needs of patients/residents, providing support during short staffing or ill calls, and practicing positive collaboration. The Supervisor provides leadership for medical Social Services, offers expertise and consultation, and acts as a liaison at local, regional, and state levels, promoting equal access throughout the Health System. Demonstrates knowledge of quality management methods and supports an environment that meets organizational quality goals. Maintains current certifications and continues education as needed, and may serve on departmental/organizational committees or assist with other projects as assigned.
