This role involves managing and overseeing all daily operations of the shop, including personnel supervision. The Supervisor will assist with and troubleshoot production, safety, and environmental issues to ensure smooth operations. They are responsible for meeting manufacturing schedules by allocating manpower, space, and machinery, and will work with the maintenance department to prioritize equipment repair to minimize impact on jobs and worker health and safety. This position serves as the first point of contact for resolving disputes or answering questions related to schedule or job operations. The Supervisor will also collaborate with the tool room attendant to monitor consumables and tool status, and with the welding committee to review applicants, monitor procedures, and create educational opportunities. Communication with the QC manager is essential for scheduling quality control inspections and testing. The role requires monitoring floor production to ensure adherence to correct procedures and task focus. Performance reviews for shop employees are to be conducted at least twice annually, with recommendations for wage rates or bonus levels. Face-to-face evaluations will be performed to discuss performance and improvement goals, and feedback will be sought for overall improvement and employee opinions on project status. The Supervisor will communicate status updates to project managers during the Weekly Shop meeting, informing them of major changes requiring immediate attention and providing feedback on conditions impacting job scheduling. Knowledge of machinery and shop capabilities across all buildings is necessary for efficient utilization of full capacity. The Supervisor will leverage their familiarity with fabrication processes, metal alloys, and properties to assist project personnel in creating work that runs efficiently through the shop. They will also work with detailers or project managers to ensure accuracy of part dimensions and requirements, referencing blueprints and part layouts. Daily labor hours on all projects will be reconciled for compilation by the M2M (ERP system) labor reporting. The role involves seeking ways to increase overall shop efficiency, assisting project managers as needed, performing miscellaneous duties as assigned, and maintaining the confidentiality of customer and CAID Industries proprietary information. Good housekeeping practices around the shop are also required.
