About The Position

Supervises, monitors and provides protection and security for WellSpan Health System buildings and premises and for employees, patients and visitors. This role involves supervising, scheduling, and monitoring security activities in assigned areas to ensure secure and safe conditions. The supervisor responds to emergency situations, conducts investigations, and collaborates with various agencies. They also ensure compliance with parking regulations and maintain all rounds, schedules, and directives on all shifts. Common expectations include preparing work schedules, assigning personnel, evaluating work performance, and maintaining policies and procedures. The role also emphasizes enhancing professional growth, providing outstanding customer service, fostering teamwork, and practicing fiscal responsibility. Additionally, the supervisor inspects buildings and grounds for potential hazards and assists with department equipment and supplies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • 1 year Supervisory experience Required
  • Must possess a valid driver's license in the current state of residence.
  • Driving record must meet requirements established by WellSpan Risk Management.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises, schedules, and monitors security activities in assigned areas to ensure secure and safe conditions for employees, patients, and visitors, and to protect System buildings, assets, and premises; inspects work performance/assignments, and recommends improvements in work methods.
  • Responds to emergency situations such as accidents and injuries, crimes in progress and safety hazards.
  • Provides assistance, summons proper authorities and polices area to maintain order, safety and to protect property.
  • Employs all necessary equipment to include RPE (Respiration Protective Equipment) during situations that are deemed a disaster for personal protection.
  • Conducts investigations and prepares incident reports and collaborates with local, state, or national agencies relative to safety and/or security investigations.
  • Collaborates with local, state, and national agencies relative to hospital security investigations; directs and/or escorts agency personnel to hospital buildings and premises.
  • Conducts routine inspections of lots for compliance with parking regulations.
  • Ensures that all rounds, schedules, and directives are maintained on all shifts.
  • Observes and reports any safety violations, unsafe work practices, conditions or areas.
  • Prepares work schedules, assigns personnel, evaluates work performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions.
  • Performs work of a similar nature.
  • Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment and safety standards.
  • Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, inservice meetings, and workshops.
  • Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.
  • Inspects buildings and grounds to watch for and guard against fire, theft, illegal entry, infractions of safety regulations, and other irregularities.
  • Assists with care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.
