About The Position

All members of Entergy’s safety function will be expected to own safety, work to prevent incidents and seek to improve with the understanding that zero harm is possible. As a leader, you will be expected to role model the behaviors expected from your team such as timely reporting, accurate documentation, and meeting deadlines. The supervisor will lead, develop, manage, and improve assigned safety and occupational health programs. There will be regular opportunities to demonstrate skills in leadership, delegation, contract management and communications. This position will also be required to present to leadership the health of the program they are responsible for, and any deficiencies identified along with sustainable solutions to prevent future issues. It will be expected that the supervisor engages with their team to support their growth and build bench strength within the safety function.

Requirements

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor’s
  • Preferred Minimum Experience: 10+ years industry/safety experience with 1+ years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities Thorough understanding of applicable OSHA regulations and industry guidelines.
  • Experience working within safety and occupational health management systems (i.e. ISO 45001, OHSAS 18001, ANSI/ASSP Z10).
  • Leadership fundamentals and behaviors.
  • Experience with change management and project management.
  • Ability to observe and engage with employees and contract partners.
  • Investigation/RCA with tools such as TapRoot, Cause Mapping, Fishbone, Five whys, etc.
  • Skilled in analyzing and interpreting data to identify trends utilizing tools such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerBI, SAS, etc.
  • Ability to interact with customers and members of the public in a pleasant and tactful manner.
  • Ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work irregular hours and out of town assignments as required.
  • Any Certificates, Licenses, etc.: Required: ASP/CSP/SMS/CUSP/CIH or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision to safety professional staff through mentoring, coaching, and developing employees personally and professionally.
  • Conduct leadership activities such as work assignments/schedules, performance reviews, disciplinary actions, etc. in accordance with system policies.
  • Lead team members through managing the implementation, maintenance, and validation of assigned safety and occupational health management system components.
  • Lead team members through managing revision processes, stakeholder groups, external vendors, and platforms for assigned management system components.
  • Liaise with and support business unit safety and operational leadership to lead and influence continuous improvement across Entergy.
  • Manage assigned programs through data review, observations, and feedback and perform revisions as needed.
  • Lead field visits seeking to understand and assess the health of assigned programs.
  • Manage applicable processes, resources/budgets and contracts associated with safety programs.
  • Lead and/or participate in internal and external special project teams with the purpose of continuous improvement.
  • Engage, develop, and maintain relationships with external partners, organizations, and memberships.
  • Establish and manage work priorities and expectations for the individuals reporting to them.
  • Support and encourage the growth and development of safety professionals across the organization through coaching and mentorship.
