About The Position

Under general direction, supervise the work of roofers and other assigned employees; supervise subordinates who repair, alter and maintain skylights, ventilators, gutters, valleys, flashing, ridges and roofs composed of tar, gravel, slate, rubberoid and shingles; prepare work schedules and make work assignments; prepare job orders and requisitions for tools, equipment and materials; and may operate a motor vehicle. All Supervisor Roofers perform related work.

Requirements

• One year of permanent service in the title of Roofer.
• Possess a motor vehicle driver's license valid in the State of New York. This license must be maintained for the duration of employment.
• Permanent civil service status in the title of Supervisor Roofer to be considered.

Responsibilities

• Oversees roofers and other staff, providing technical guidance, assigning tasks, and maintaining work records.
• Inspects jobs in progress and completed work for quality assurance and compliance with code requirements, sometimes working at heights up to 30 stories.
• Prepares job orders, estimates material needs, and ensures tools and equipment are properly managed.
• Ensures adherence to OSHA regulations, NYC safety protocols, and proper installation of roofing materials.
• Assists in the abatement of emergency roofing issues.
• Prepares work schedules and makes work assignments.
• Prepares job orders and requisitions for tools, equipment and materials.
• May operate a motor vehicle.
