About The Position

The Supervisor, Reliability coordinates and supervises the daily activities of an Engineering team, including Distribution Engineers; makes decisions guided by policies, procedures, and the company's business plan. Preferred reporting locations for this position are service centers within the Met-Ed and Penelec service territories in southeastern and central Pennsylvania. Candidates must reside or be willing to relocate to these areas in Pennsylvania.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering / Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited institution is required. Acceptable alternatives are: a Professional Engineer’s (PE) License or a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or technical field of study (non-ABET) plus an advanced degree in Electrical Engineering from a university with an ABET accredited Bachelor’s program.
  • Minimum 5 years' engineering experience is required.
  • Experience in process/project development, planning/analysis, and performance reporting.
  • Proven ability to identify, troubleshoot and resolve problems on projects and/or processes.
  • Working knowledge or the ability to learn the following: GIS; Construction and Material Standards; company's Distribution Policies & Procedures; PennDOT and county permit requirements for pole sets, highway occupancy and road openings; Appendix A in Part II of the company's Tariff dealing with extension of facilities; PA PUC's policy and its impact on the company's billing practices; streetlight installation and billing processes, and the company's Municipal Lighting Handbook.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and the ability to lead others in achieving goals for the benefit of the business unit and the company.
  • Proven ability to make accurate decisions and demonstrate sound judgment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to enable effective interaction with both internal and external customers, and the ability to make clear, accurate and concise reports.
  • Superior customer relations, relationship management, leadership, teamwork, and managerial skills.
  • Able to work well under pressure.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Customer request work scheduling (CREWS) navigation skills a plus, including knowledge of work request design requirements, material reservation criteria, CREWS billing categories, date management and lock down procedure.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrating a high level of safety commitment throughout day-to-day functions and strengthening the Engineering Services team's commitment to safety.
  • Performing reliability studies, assisting in the querying of reliability data, and preparing detailed internal / external reports for management and the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC).
  • Working collaboratively with Regulatory Reporting and Compliance organizations to prepare reports and responses to the PA PUC.
  • Reviewing and responding to customer complaints submitted to the PA PUC.
  • Assisting and supervising the preparation of budget estimates and schedules for reliability improvement projects.
  • Assisting in the development and presentation of the capital budget managing and supporting reliability programs.
  • Identifying and implementing effective programs, processes, and procedures to improve data quality and reliability.
  • Supporting the LTIIP Scoping and Selection team as needed, including identifying, scoping, and vetting projects.
  • Investigating power quality issues.
  • Reporting to the Manager, Engineering Services on the progress of reliability projects, and advising on issues that could impair the successful completion of projects.
  • Analyzing complex issues and developing actionable recommendations
  • Assisting with required training pertaining to data quality, outage reporting, and reliability analysis.
  • Executing the performance management process by providing feedback and coaching on an ongoing basis throughout the year by discussing development opportunities, performance issues, and upcoming departmental changes.
  • Leading, educating, and directing others to improve team effectiveness and communicating results and recommendations to varying audiences including senior leadership.
  • Encouraging open, honest, direct, and ongoing conversation among team members.
  • Driving continuous improvement across the team and the company
  • Actively seeking and sharing own knowledge of industry trends, competitors, etc. that affect the team and/or the company
  • Supporting storm restoration efforts, including performing duties of Hazard and/or Damage Assessment Coordinator when needed
