About The Position

Gesher Human Services is a bridge to hope and opportunity for people at work, at home, and in the community. Gesher’s workforce development, behavioral health, and inclusion programming serves all Metro Detroiters while meeting the needs of the Jewish community. The Supervisor, Rehabilitation Services Job Coaching is responsible for hiring and training all full time, contingent and summer job coaches. This individual conducts trainings to keep the job coaches up to date on what is happening in the field and on new techniques. This individual is required to be available for concerns that arise when participants are working in the community. You are required to cover the job coach shifts in the event there is a staff call or approved time off.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency
  • First Aid and CPR certification required
  • Interpersonal skills sufficient to communicate with employers, public, customers and staff are required
  • Position requires composition skills sufficient to prepare required reports
  • Driving record must be sufficient to meet safe driving standards as established by Agency insurance carrier
  • Valid Michigan driver’s license is required
  • Reliable automotive transportation is required

Nice To Haves

  • Two years college preferred
  • Three years related work experience with individuals with developmental, emotional and/or physical impairments preferred
  • Working knowledge of training techniques, behavior modification, task analysis and fluency in American Sign Language preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage day to day operations of assigned community-based assessment sites.
  • Coordinate daily staff and customer schedules.
  • Contact employers, assessment and other appropriate staff to ensure community based sites are covered.
  • Ensure that Rehabilitation Services daily schedule changes are reported daily to the scheduling department.
  • Coordinate and/or directly provide Job Coaching Only Services to referred customers including maintaining ongoing communication with coaching staff, employers and funding sources that results in customers attaining the targeted skills development and employer expectations are met; timely completing of reports and related documentation for billing; and timely requesting of any needed, additional funding for continued training.
  • Orient, train and supervise designated staff.
  • Complete written performance evaluations as required.
  • Provide ongoing feedback to staff and provide corrective action as necessary.
  • Submit weekly time sheet information for staff payroll.
  • Ensure comprehensive quality standards and support services meet employer’s expectations and/or funding source requirements.
  • Assist the job coach (as applicable) and case coordinators in modifying the job and/or creating adaptive devices to accommodate individual participant disability.
  • Develop new assessment sites and maintain relationships with all current employers’ management staff that ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Develop, implement and maintain comprehensive quality control systems at community sites including periodic site inspections and revision/updating the site sheets and norms as tasks change or are added/deleted.
  • Plan and oversee the Summer Link up Program, and working with the Manager or Rehabilitation Services to manage job coaching for Career Start and Job Start.
  • As assigned, interview and hire new staff.
  • Coordinate new staff orientation to departmental and Agency policies and procedures.
  • Provide formal and informal in-service/training, including role modeling to employers, co-workers, and participants to facilitate social integration at the work site.
  • Carry beeper to provide 24-hour coverage to ensure proper staffing, staff direction, staff attendance and staff emergency.
  • Ensure all documentation from Job Coaches regarding assessments, work adjustment and extended situational assessments are detailed, completed timely, and turned into case coordinators daily.
  • Monitor data put into DARTS.
  • Complete data entry, reporting and data collection projects as needed.
  • Serve on Agency committee(s) as appointed.
  • Provide and/or supervise on going follow along services to participants.
  • Perform job coaching services as necessary.
