About The Position

This position is responsible for the day-to-day operational support and management of activities at Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU). The role oversees the implementation and execution of all operational functions, including safety compliance, operational protocols, logistics management, environmental regulations, and the maintenance of physical assets to ensure best-in-class operational performance. In addition, this position is accountable for Quality Control activities within the Into-Plane department, ensuring strict adherence to fuel quality standards and inspection processes.

Requirements

  • Valid Class 8 driver’s license appropriate for operational vehicles
  • Minimum of 2 years of driving experience; heavy-duty vehicle experience preferred
  • Supervisory experience managing small to medium-sized teams
  • Ability to obtain and maintain airport security clearance, including background checks
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules, including overtime
  • Intermediate proficiency in spoken and written English
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, email (Outlook), and data entry systems
  • Valid Class 8 driver’s license with relevant experience
  • Demonstrated supervisory and people management skills
  • Knowledge of safe handling, storage, and movement of fuel products, including quality assurance practices

Nice To Haves

  • Fuel tanker experience preferred
  • Aircraft refueling experience highly desirable
  • Residence within a 45-minute commute of the airport preferred
  • Technical education in Mechanical, Electrical, or related field preferred
  • Previous aircraft refueling experience desirable

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily operational oversight and support for SJU operations
  • Ensure compliance with all safety standards, operational procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Manage logistics and coordinate operational activities to optimize efficiency and performance
  • Oversee environmental compliance and adherence to applicable regulations
  • Maintain and monitor physical assets to support operational reliability
  • Execute Quality Control inspections and processes within the Into-Plane function
  • Ensure all fuel handling and delivery meet established quality and safety standards
  • Operate to the highest standards of Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) compliance; proactively identify, assess, and report HSSE-related issues; and actively utilize company safety systems and tools (e.g., Share ITS)
  • Lead and supervise a team of highly skilled Into-Plane Operators and Mechanics, providing coaching, technical training, and performance management, including disciplinary actions when necessary
  • Ensure the safe and compliant handling, storage, and movement of aviation fuel products
  • Review and analyze customer fueling schedules to allocate appropriate manpower throughout operations
  • Coordinate operational activities prior to aircraft arrival, ensuring clear control and communication on the ramp
  • Oversee daily operations and distribute workloads to ensure all flights depart on schedule
  • Communicate with operational centers to gather and share information regarding delays and other pertinent situations
  • Ensure into-plane refueling activities are conducted in accordance with company procedures
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of refueling and product quality activities across all reporting periods (daily through annual)
  • Prepare for and support inspections conducted by airport authorities (FAA, Fire Department), airlines, and other industry stakeholders
  • Perform administrative tasks using systems such as I6 to record product movements and operational data
  • Complete all required induction, 360-learning, and Smiths Driving Training programs
  • Conduct daily vehicle inspections
  • Perform quality assurance testing of fuel and verify against laboratory certifications
  • Receive fuel deliveries and manage tank farm operations
  • Load refueling vehicles as required
  • Perform aircraft refueling operations when needed
  • Maintain full compliance with HSSE standards, reporting systems, and safety tools
  • Adhere to all company safety, quality, and operational procedures
  • Follow Job Safety Analysis (JSA) requirements for all operational tasks
  • Ensure safe handling, storage, and movement of aviation fuel in compliance with company standards
  • Accurately record stock movements and sales transactions
  • Execute appropriate emergency procedures when required
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, maintaining high service standards
  • Participate in ongoing training and maintain competency in all operational procedures
  • Maintain working knowledge of company safety and emergency protocols
  • Schedule and coordinate refueling activities to ensure on-time aircraft departures
  • Assist in planning vehicle usage and manpower allocation
  • Input operational and transactional data into the I6 system, including end-of-day reconciliation
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned and trained
