About The Position

This position works closely with Radiation Oncologists to coordinate high-quality patient care, trains employees to meet departmental performance standards, and manages staff schedules and staffing levels to ensure efficient operations. The role involves coordinating treatment, treatment planning, and room block activities, with the flexibility to treat patients clinically when needed and participate in department call rotations. The Supervisor also assists with patient education and counseling, collaborates with management on system changes and departmental improvements, and develops and implements Quality Control and Quality Assurance programs. Additionally, they maintain equipment, monitor daily charges, assist with budget preparation, ensure compliance with protocols and regulations, and perform human resources responsibilities for their staff, including coaching, performance reviews, and recommendations for hiring, compensation, promotions, corrective actions, and terminations. The role requires adherence to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and demonstration of age-appropriate patient care knowledge and skills.

Requirements

  • Radiation Therapy (RT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Associate's Degree in Radiation Therapy or related field.
  • Typically requires 3 years of experience in radiation therapy, which includes experience as a lead or senior level staff.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with physicians, staff, patients and their families.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, set appropriate priorities and accomplish assignments in a thorough and timely manner.
  • Proficient computer skills including experience using Microsoft Office applications or similar products.

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with the Radiation Oncologists to coordinate high quality patient care.
  • Trains employees to meet standards of performance within the department.
  • Maintains staff schedules, evaluates staffing levels and makes adjustments as necessary to maintain established productivity levels and ensure completion of procedures and/or treatments.
  • Coordinates all treatment, treatment planning and room block activities.
  • Clinically treats patients when needed and participates in department call rotations.
  • Assists in patient education and counseling.
  • Works collaboratively with the manager to organize, plan and implement system changes, departmental improvements and annual goals.
  • Administers, implements, and improves policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Develops and implements Quality Control and Quality Assurance programs.
  • Maintains a preventative maintenance program and understands mechanical functions of equipment.
  • Prepares work orders in order to assure safe, functional equipment.
  • Monitors daily charge activities for accuracy.
  • Assists in preparing budgets; monitors and operates within budget guidelines.
  • Ensures correct usage and compliance with national protocols and the State of Wisconsin Regulations.
  • Performs human resources responsibilities for staff which includes coaching on performance, completes performance reviews and overall staff morale.
  • Recommends hiring, compensation changes, promotions, corrective action decisions, and terminations.
  • Responsible for understanding and adhering to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and for ensuring that personal actions, and the actions of employees supervised, comply with the policies, regulations and laws applicable to the organization's business.
  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures.
