About The Position

At MMT, our objective is to develop excellence in automation, machine design, material handling, and custom tooling. The Production Supervisor provides leadership for manufacturing operations across assigned areas, which may include machine shop, mechanical assembly, and/or electrical assembly. This role is responsible for driving performance across safety, quality, delivery, cost, and people development within a high-mix manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Business, or related field; or Associate degree in a technical or business discipline; or High school diploma or equivalent plus 10+ years of progressive manufacturing experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree: 6+ years manufacturing experience;
  • Associate degree: 9+ years manufacturing experience, including 3+ years in a lead or supervisory role; or
  • No degree: 10+ years manufacturing experience, including 4+ years in a lead or supervisory role.
  • Experience in CNC machining (lathes, mills, Swiss-type machines) and/or precision manufacturing and assembly environments strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams in a high-mix, production-focused environment.
  • Experience working in regulated manufacturing environments (ISO 9001/13485) preferred.
  • Strong leadership presence with ability to drive accountability and performance on the floor.
  • Solid understanding of CNC machining processes, setup principles, and production troubleshooting.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., Epicor or similar).
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement tools.
  • Effective communicator with ability to influence across all levels of the organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in CNC machining (lathes, mills, Swiss-type machines) and/or precision manufacturing and assembly environments strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily execution of manufacturing operations across assigned areas, ensuring alignment with production plans, customer demand, and business priorities.
  • Own area performance across safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost.
  • Monitor workflow, capacity, and constraints; proactively address issues impacting production output or delivery commitments.
  • Ensure products meet all engineering specifications, drawings, and quality requirements.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership in support of CNC machining and/or assembly operations as needed.
  • Support troubleshooting of CNC machining processes (lathes, mills, Swiss-type machines) including setup, tooling, program execution, and process stability.
  • Collaborate with engineering on process optimization, fixture/tooling improvements, and manufacturability feedback.
  • Ensure process discipline and standard work adherence across machining and assembly operations.
  • Directly supervise and develop production employees across machining and/or assembly functions.
  • Build a culture of accountability, engagement, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide coaching, performance feedback, and development planning for team members.
  • Partner with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Operations to ensure production readiness, issue resolution, and smooth execution of priorities.
  • Align daily production execution with broader site and business objectives.
  • Lead structured problem solving and root cause analysis for safety, quality, delivery, and equipment-related issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on cycle time reduction, scrap reduction, uptime, and overall efficiency.
  • Promote Lean Manufacturing principles, including 5S, standardized work, and waste reduction.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable quality systems (e.g., ISO 9001/13485) and internal standards.
  • Resolve nonconformances and reinforce a “right the first time” mindset across machining and assembly processes.
  • Communicate daily/weekly performance, risks, and improvement opportunities to leadership.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols, standard work, and production procedures.
  • Serve as a key liaison between production teams and management.
