Supervises and coordinates activities of production workers by performing the following duties. This role involves interpreting specifications, blueprints, and job orders, assigning duties, and establishing or adjusting work procedures to meet production schedules. The supervisor is responsible for recommending measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality, as well as suggesting changes to working conditions to increase efficiency. They will analyze and resolve work problems, initiate plans to motivate workers, and review production orders to understand product data, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates to plan department operations. Planning for extrusion or finishing operations, establishing priorities, and coordinating manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality meet specifications are key aspects of this role. The supervisor will also review production and operating reports, resolve operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to minimize costs and prevent delays, and initiate action to prevent non-conformities in product, process, and quality systems. Maintaining time and production records, developing or revising operational practices, observing workers for compliance, and resolving worker grievances are also essential. Additionally, the role includes compiling, storing, and retrieving extrusion data, identifying and recording product, process, and quality system issues, estimating, requisitioning, and inspecting materials, and conferring with other supervisors to coordinate departmental activities. The supervisor may also perform activities of the workers they supervise.
