About The Position

Supervises and coordinates activities of production workers by performing the following duties. This role involves interpreting specifications, blueprints, and job orders, assigning duties, and establishing or adjusting work procedures to meet production schedules. The supervisor recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality, and suggests changes to increase efficiency. They analyze and resolve work problems, initiate plans to motivate workers, and prepare and coordinate extrusion or finishing schedules to ensure production and quality meet specifications. The role also involves reviewing production and operating reports, resolving operational issues, and maintaining time and production records. Additionally, the supervisor develops or revises operational practices, resolves worker grievances, compiles extrusion data, estimates and inspects materials, and confers with other supervisors. They are responsible for initiating action to prevent non-conformities related to product, process, and quality systems, and verifying the implementation of solutions. The position also includes controlling further processing of nonconforming products and performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to use word processing, spreadsheet applications.
  • Must be familiar with internet research and the use of e-mail.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must actively support our Health Safety and Environmental policy, immediately report all Safety hazards and correct them when able to safely do so, participate in all required Safety Training, meetings, inspects, and use all required PPE.

Responsibilities

  • Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.

  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Reviews production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operations.
  • Plans for extrusion or finishing operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products.
  • Prepares extrusion or finishing schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications.
  • Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
  • To the fullest extent possible, utilizing documented control systems, responsibility includes initiating action, recommending or providing solutions, to prevent the occurrence of product nonconformity.
  • Maintains time and production records.
  • Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Resolves worker grievances or submits unsettled grievances to Production Superintendent for action.
  • Compiles, stores, and retrieves extrusion data.
  • Identifies and records any problems relating to the product, process and quality system.
  • Estimates, requisitions, and inspects materials.
  • Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
  • Performs activities of workers supervised.
  • Initiates action to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformities relating to product, process, and quality systems.
  • Identifies and records any problems relating to the product, process, and quality system.
  • Initiates, recommends or provides solutions through designated channels.
  • Verifies the implementation of solutions.
  • Control further processing, delivery or installation of nonconforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory activities, including internal quality audits.
  • Directly supervises employees in the Production Department.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
