About The Position

The Starlink Precision Machining team machines and delivers single digit micron tolerance and difficult to source parts at production volumes. The 2nd shift Precision Machining Supervisor will drive a culture of quality while developing exceptional machinists, quality specialists, and technicians. As a technical leader, the Precision Machining Supervisor will meet customer rate demands, proactively identify and resolve production schedule issues, continuously develop and improve production processes, and inspire the team to achieve consistent machining excellence.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of CNC machining experience
  • 1+ year of leadership experience in a machine shop setting
  • Experience with high-level troubleshooting for machined components

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years leadership experience in a machine shop setting
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting single digit micron parts
  • Advanced macro programming experience
  • Experience with Heidenhain controls
  • Ability to travel to vendors and assist with solving high-level machining problems
  • Programming experience with NX or other similar CAM software
  • Precision inspection experience including CMM using PC-DMIS software and hand tools such as micrometers, calipers, profilometers, and interferometers
  • Experience with interdisciplinary project management

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of technicians, quality specialists, and machinists
  • Provide technical guidance and unblock challenging machining issues
  • Meet demand requirements to our customers, forecast potential capacity deficiencies, and remove quality/production blockers as they appear
  • Manage and optimize machine/labor configuration to meet customer demand
  • Regularly drive improvements with operations to improve manufacturability, cycle times, cost, and quality
  • Manage schedules, timecards, and direct report performance
  • Ensure all processes have accessible and correct documentation
  • Set priorities for the team based on strengths and maximizing output; delegate and manage team bandwidth to achieve successful tasks and projects
  • Coordinate with leadership to ensure the machine shop’s focus correctly prioritizes projects that are the most impactful to Starlink success
  • Think creatively, question the status quo while following documentation and maintaining prescribed quality standards
