About The Position

This is an open position with Mon Power, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [MP]. This is a position in Maintenance at Haywood Harrison Power Station. This position is responsible for efficient and safe maintenance activities on all plant equipment and facilities.

Requirements

  • directing electrical maintenance, it should state mechanical maintenance
  • In lieu of degree, a combination of career experience and training.
  • Demonstrated experience in a plant maintenance supervisory position with 10 years in a power plant facility or equivalent type of experience.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in operations of supercritical fossil generating units.
  • Exceptional motivational skills, taking full ownership of all work assignments and tasks associated with this job description.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with SAP and Microsoft applications.
  • PLC software proficiency preferred.
  • Must live or be willing to relocate within a reasonable commuting distance to the reporting location.
  • Must monitor/utilize a cellular phone and be readily available to coordinate the staffing of emergent needs that occur outside normal work hours.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing and directing electrical maintenance activities for plant generating units and associated equipment.
  • Monitoring activities of nonexempt, physical employees and enforcing conformance to established work practices, rules, methods, and policies.
  • Implementing instruction and training of employees in the established work practices, methods and policies.
  • Identifying and understanding the causes of rework.
  • Interfacing with vendors and supply chain as related to assigned equipment and systems.
  • Ensuring weekly schedule compliance, Preventive Maintenance (PM) compliance, and completion of emergent working a timely manner.
  • Verifying and ensuring job closeout documents are complete and accurate for historical tracking.
  • Recognizing risks and taking precautions and preventative measures to ensure a safe work environment for others as well as themselves.
  • Coordinating work with other departments.
  • Requesting and coordinating equipment releases and outages as required.
  • Monitoring and documenting work habits of individual employees.
  • Counseling employees as necessary.
  • Conducting field surveys and preparing sketches and estimates of material and labor required in planning for various construction and maintenance activities.
  • Providing technical support for employees.
  • Maintaining close working relationships with other management personnel to maximize operational performance, such as equivalent availability, heat rate and start-up time.
  • Conducting work so that all employees, equipment, and the public are properly safeguarded.
  • Assigning, supervising, and completing the required reporting on all activities of an equipment service team involved in maintaining a power station and all power station equipment.
  • Coordinating activities with mechanical and electrical maintenance crews, operations, and bulk material teams.
  • Monitoring and maintaining the assigned backlog of assigned work orders daily per daily work management model standards.
  • Assuring quality history and documentation of work performed on critical equipment is captured in SAP.
  • Ensuring that the safety training and personnel development training of assigned employees is current.
  • Contacting vendors and manufacturers of station equipment to coordinate solutions to station problems and schedule manufacturer representatives.
  • Coordinating and administering assigned maintenance contractor blanket contract activities.
  • Working with the planners and coordinators to ensure quality job plans are in place for maintaining assigned equipment.
  • Maintaining safety standards and safe work habits of the equipment service teams and in general all station personnel.
  • Maintaining functional knowledge of hardware and software skills required to use computers and associated software as it relates to electrical maintenance-related functions.
  • Assuring that an effective team environment is maintained.
  • Supervising major internal maintenance projects on off shifts as necessary.
