This role acts as a member and leader of the pharmacy technician team, overseeing training, management, and scheduling for the area of supervision. The Supervisor ensures all pharmacy technician functions are completed in alignment with state, federal, and local regulations, and fulfills the responsibilities of a pharmacy technician with a high level of knowledge and skills. This includes demonstrating competency in medication delivery, setup and filling of medication orders, and operation/troubleshooting of pharmacy automation. The role also involves serving as a role model for excellent customer service, triaging phone calls, and differentiating requests that require a pharmacist. The Supervisor will troubleshoot problem orders, maintain knowledge of pharmacy regulatory requirements, and participate in Joint Commission readiness. They will provide operational coverage to all shifts, train technicians, assess ongoing competency, and perform monthly unit inspections. Additionally, the Supervisor will perform competently in at least one other area of operations and serve as a leader on shift, maintaining workflow, delegating tasks, and handling issues. They will establish and maintain positive team dynamics, manage conflicts, and serve as a liaison between technicians and pharmacy leadership. The Supervisor is responsible for managing the interview and hiring process, conducting performance evaluations, monitoring time and attendance, and implementing progressive discipline when necessary. They will also coordinate training schedules for new technicians, ensure accurate documentation of training, and establish competency assessments for existing technicians. Finally, the Supervisor will identify areas for quality, regulatory, or operational improvement and work with pharmacy management to implement process improvements.
