About The Position

Assists in supervision of the operations and coordination of assigned area. May supervise second shift (evening/night) use of facilities and remote sites. Work is performed under general supervision in accordance with established policies and procedures. Performance is evaluated based on the effectiveness and efficiency of operation of the area supervised. Supervises other staff and/or student employees. Responsible for supervising a team of custodians in the effective cleaning of buildings to established APPA level standards - completes building inspections, audits, and reports and holds staff accountable to maintaining established standards. Provides Leadership, Orientation and Training for supervised staff, which includes full-time and part-time custodial staff as well as temporary workers and students Actively coaches staff providing daily guidance and feedback. Conducts regular performance evaluations that highlight both strengths and areas for improvement Distributes and collects keys and equipment, maintains accurate inventories of keys and equipment, ensures all equipment is used safely and is properly maintained to support seamless operations. Orders supplies and ensures custodial closets are properly stocked to meet building demands. Completes work orders, investigates and responds to customer concerns and requests. Follows up on needs for corrective maintenance. Schedules coverage assignments for buildings where staff are absent from work. Schedules periodic deep cleaning, floor care projects, and special project work during the semester, over the summer and during interims. Organizes resources for special events – includes precleaning, event services, and after event clean-ups and includes tracking and reporting associated labor hours and other expenses. Time tracking, recording and reporting responsibilities to include – accurate and effective absence management, responsible time off approvals which support the ongoing operations, and accurate TCP/HRMS time entries and tracking of benefit time use for assigned staff Attends Services meetings – weekly/monthly/quarterly, supervisor forums, trainings, and assigned professional development workshops (sometimes outside of regular shift hours) Responds to emergencies. Coordinates resources and actively works independently or with a team to mitigate damage. Examples may include water infiltration (broken pipes, fire suppression system activation, roof leaks, flooding, etc.), clean-up of spills or bodily fluids, accidents and/or employee injuries, etc. Responsible for communication with customers and completion of after incident reporting.

Requirements

  • Completion of high school or the equivalent.
  • Five years progressively responsible office administration or supervisory experience.
