About The Position

This role involves overseeing operations, ensuring safety, and managing maintenance schedules for a locomotive fleet. The Supervisor, Operations will communicate performance goals, participate in safety initiatives, conduct safety observations, and investigate incidents. They will work closely with field employees and customers to identify and implement improvements and efficiencies. The position also focuses on identifying future leaders, creating development plans, and conducting performance evaluations. Key responsibilities include coordinating daily safety and job briefings, planning and prioritizing locomotive maintenance and repair activities, and scheduling and tracking all FRA-required inspections and maintenance. Accurate record-keeping and proactive communication of maintenance schedules are essential.

Requirements

  • Speak, write, read fluent English.
  • Hear and have good vision
  • Regular on-site attendance and punctuality is required
  • Work outside in environmental conditions which at times include extreme heat or extreme cold
  • Work may involve protected and monitored exposure to chemicals, fumes, odors, or other environmental conditions typical of an industrial facility
  • Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) without restriction and pass any medical examination associated with the use of PPE

Responsibilities

  • Clearly communicates goals around operating performance
  • Participates in safety meetings and overall training initiatives
  • Performs safety observations in the field and identifies trends or areas of improvement
  • Ensures that all incidents are investigated and participates directly in significant incidents
  • Works closely with the field employees and customer to identify improvement areas, efficiencies and help implement them
  • Ensures positive recognition is occurring for good performance
  • Identifies future leaders and creates individual development plans
  • Performs annual performance evaluations with field employees
  • Coordinates and leads daily safety and job briefing meetings with locomotive technicians across multiple locations.
  • Works closely with PSC site supervisors to plan, schedule, and prioritize locomotive maintenance and repair activities.
  • Schedules and tracks all FRA-required inspections and maintenance for the locomotive fleet, ensuring timely completion and clear communication of maintenance schedules to all affected sites.
  • Maintains accurate maintenance planning records and proactively communicates upcoming FRS required inspections, and service schedules to site leadership and field personnel.
