About The Position

This is professional services work of a supervisory nature in the administration of off-road recreational vehicle programs to provide Snowmobile clubs and municipalities with financial assistance in establishing, repairing, and maintaining motorized, non-motorized, and multi-use trail systems, cross-sport facilities, and programs to promote off-road recreational activities in the State of Maine. Work includes managing grants, issuing permits, overseeing program activities, developing and maintaining Snowmobile trail systems, overseeing work projects, establishing and maintaining landowner partnerships, devising and conducting training and educational programs, and disseminating educational and informational materials. Supervision is exercised over subordinate staff members, volunteers, and contract employees. The position works closely with the Supervisor of Off-Road Recreational Vehicle Programs for All Terraine Vehicles and reports to the Director of Operations & Maintenance and is performed under limited supervision. Hybrid work options are available for this position.

Requirements

  • Eight (8) years of education, training, and/or experience in organized off-highway recreational vehicle programs
  • Three (3) years in an administrative/supervisory capacity
  • Knowledge of state, federal, and local funding resources
  • Knowledge of environmental laws, rules and Best Management Practices (BMP)
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of public administration
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • Knowledge of GIS, GPS and related mapping technology
  • Knowledge of grant management, program administration and auditing practices
  • Ability to manage a statewide program
  • Ability to operate Snowmobiles
  • Ability to supervise staff, contractors, and volunteers
  • Ability to work effectively with other state agencies and the public
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to prepare budgets, work programs, reports, and evaluations
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
