The Supervisor of Special Education serves as an educational leader, assisting school leadership in planning, coordinating, and directing activities and programs related to the administration of one or more grade levels/schools. This role works with teachers, administrators, parents/guardians, and related service staff to ensure students with IEPs receive appropriate and effective education in the least restrictive environment. The Supervisor collaborates with general and special education teams to deliver optimal educational programs, supporting teachers in fostering evidence-based, inclusive instructional practices through Multi-Tiered Systems of Support and universal design for learning. They will lead teachers in daily instruction and support, utilizing various technologies and in-person visits for teaching, learning, and family engagement. The Supervisor consults regularly with learners and families to ensure successful completion of instructional programs. A strong understanding of effective special education practices, laws, and regulations is essential. The role involves working with teachers and parents to provide special education in the least restrictive environment, offering leadership and support to special education teachers within their program or grade band, and working closely with families to resolve conflicts. This position operates in compliance with all state and federal laws, regulations, and school policies, ensuring staff adhere to these standards.
