About The Position

The South Shore Regional Centre for Education (SSRCE) is seeking a Supervisor of Information Technology. This role involves implementing and maintaining technical and computer-related information systems used by staff in the SSRCE office and bus garages. The position requires developing, testing, installing, and documenting hardware and software, maintaining virtual servers, and ensuring the physical and logical security of systems. Responsibilities also include maintaining network function, performing secure backups, responding to IT issues in a timely manner, leading system usage expertise for staff, and maintaining password and network configurations. The role also involves hardware and software maintenance for laptops and notebooks, participating in professional development, and actively engaging in regional technology team meetings. Requirements

  • A degree, diploma or certification in technology.
  • Three years of relevant work experience in a network administration position or Windows/Linux server environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications such as MCP, MCITP, CompTIA Security+

Responsibilities

  • Implements and maintains technical and computer-related information systems used by staff in the South Shore Regional Centre for Education office, and bus garages.
  • Develops, tests, installs and provides documentation for the various hardware devices (servers, desktops, laptops, handheld wireless devices of all types and access points etc.) and software applications used in the SSRCE office environment.
  • Installs and maintains virtual servers as required.
  • Maintains physical and logical security of hardware and software including proactive intrusion detection and prevention.
  • Maintains network function and service.
  • Performs secure backup and restore functions for all Regional office data.
  • Maintains communication and consistency in practice with the Technology Centre.
  • Responds to problem reports, machine crashes, support requests, hardware failures and power outages in a timely manner.
  • Maintains systems to be able to respond to these problems within timelines as determined in disaster recovery guidelines.
  • Leads and provides expertise in system usage to the office staff.
  • Maintains password and group files, VPN and network configurations.
  • Performs hardware and software maintenance and upgrading to the office’s laptop and notebook computers and associated hand-held equipment as required and maintains current records associated with equipment of RCE Office employees.
  • Participates in professional development activities to remain current and knowledgeable of new developments.
  • Actively participates in regional PSS/Ops technology team meetings.
  • Complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned from time-to-time.
