Under general direction, the Supervisor of Electric Line Crew plans, directs, supervises, and participates in the work of electric line crews responsible for the construction, installation, maintenance, repair, and restoration of the Town’s overhead and underground electrical distribution system. This position provides day-to-day leadership to line personnel, assigns and prioritizes work, ensures compliance with safety policies and applicable electrical standards, and assists with employee training and performance management. The Supervisor performs skilled and technical electrical line work, including energized line work, troubleshooting power outages and system deficiencies, installing and maintaining transformers, conductors, insulators, cross arms, fuses, street lighting, traffic signals, and related equipment. The position operates specialized utility vehicles and equipment, including bucket trucks and digger derricks, and responds to emergency situations and power outages as needed to ensure the safe and reliable restoration of electrical service. The position is responsible for promoting a safe, productive, and professional work environment while ensuring that assigned work is completed efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with applicable codes, regulations, departmental policies, and established safety standards. This is a working supervisory position that requires the ability to lead a crew while performing physically demanding electrical utility work in a variety of weather, terrain, and emergency conditions.
