About The Position

The Elizabeth Board of Education is seeking a qualified Supervisor of Early Childhood Education to oversee and manage early childhood programs within the district. This role involves direct supervision of teachers and staff, program evaluation, curriculum development, and collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of early childhood education initiatives. The position requires a valid supervisor's certificate or certificate of eligibility and significant experience in public school education.

Requirements

  • Valid supervisor’s certificate or certificate of eligibility.
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience in the area of public school education, with related experiences in teaching.
  • Administration or communication skills.
  • Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in assessing and monitoring in-service training programs for all pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten teaching staff.
  • Provide direct supervision of both in-district and community Early Childhood Programs through regular classroom visitations, observation, and evaluations.
  • Provide on-going evaluations of all Early Childhood programs.
  • Confer with in-district teachers, guidance counselors and Early Childhood Teams on a regular basis to determine if goals of the Early Childhood Programs are being met.
  • Assist in the coordination of the registration process for Early Childhood students.
  • Prepare reports as requested by the Director of Early Childhood Education.
  • Maintain copies of all records and forms related to the Early Childhood Programs.
  • Assist teachers in the development, evaluation and improvement of teaching techniques related to instruction for Early Childhood students.
  • Supervise the selection and use of all instructional materials, supplies, equipment and software and maintain an inventory of same.
  • Attend meetings, workshops and in-service programs relevant to Early Childhood, as requested by the Director of Early Childhood Education.
  • Participate in recruitment, selection, appointment, and orientation of new teachers.
  • Maintain a regular contact and working relationship with all community agencies and providers relative to the area of Early Childhood Education.
  • Implement and monitor Early Childhood instructional and fiscal programs plan.
  • Supervise and direct the professional growth of Early Childhood Team and teachers through regularly scheduled staff meetings and workshops and through individual and group conferences.
  • Participate with school principals in the recommendation or non-recommendation of non-tenured Early Childhood personnel and the evaluation of tenured personnel through observation, consultation and a review of reports.
  • Develop and improve curriculum in Early Childhood programs by directing and working with the appropriate supervisors, consultants, teachers and other members of the professional staff.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Early Childhood Education, principals and all appropriate supervisors, all aspects of interaction between the schools and Division.
  • Analyze and interpret pre- and post-test data in conjunction with appropriate principals and supervisors.
  • Perform other related duties as may be assigned by the Director of Early Childhood Education.
