About The Position

This role involves assisting in the design, implementation, and evaluation of services for non-public schools in accordance with ACT 89 and other relevant regulations. The position requires preparing and presenting professional development, assisting in staff selection and evaluation, and supervising instructional and school counseling staff. The role also includes coordinating staff schedules, ensuring safe and properly equipped classrooms, developing liaison with school principals, and overseeing a mentoring program for new staff. A key aspect is the ability to collect, manage, and analyze assessment data to inform decision-making and lead professional development activities.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in education required
  • K-12 Principal or other supervisory certificate required
  • Five years (5) experience as a classroom teacher required
  • Demonstrated experience with evidenced based reading and math assessments and interventions required
  • Experience with PA educator effectiveness and evaluation process required
  • Ability to effectively present information and articulately respond to questions from administrators, staff, parents, students, business and educational partners, and the general public.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, data-driven decision-making skills, and ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work under pressure.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and Teams, including Word, PowerPoint, Access, Excel and Outlook, and willingness to experiment and work with new technologies.
  • Self-motivator, independent, cooperative member of a team, flexible, creative, and responsible.
  • PA Driver’s license and reliable transportation required for travel throughout Allegheny County
  • Current Act 114, Act 34 and Act 151 required prior to an offer (Must be dated within 1 year of hire date).
  • School Personnel Health Record (Form H511.340 (8/2011)) must be completed and received by Human Resources prior to hire date.

Nice To Haves

  • Reading Specialist Supervisor / Reading Specialist Certificate preferred
  • Prior supervisory or administrative experience preferred
  • Knowledge of educational technology required

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design, implementation, and evaluation of services for non-public schools as requested by administrators, in accordance with ACT 89 and other relevant regulations.
  • Prepare and present professional development activities for Non-Public School Program (NPSP) staff members regarding best educational practices and changes in laws and regulations.
  • Assist in the selection and evaluation of NPSP staff members.
  • Supervise, observe, and formally evaluate instructional and school counseling staff.
  • Coordinate staff schedules and engage in the daily activities and routines of the field staff.
  • Ensure classrooms are maintained, safe, properly equipped, and assigned to avoid interruption of educational activities.
  • Develop and maintain a liaison with school principals to coordinate and maintain quality services.
  • Oversee the implementation of a mentoring program for new staff members to comply with PA Department of Education and AIU requirements.
  • Collect, manage, and analyze assessment data and lead professional development activities with staff that support data-informed decision making.
