Requirements

Associate degree or 2 years of relevant work experience
Non-Destructive Testing, engineering, sciences
American Society of Non-Destructive Testing (ASNT) Level I - Non-Destructive Testing in at least 3 or more of the following disciplines
PT (Liquid Penetrant testing)
MT (Magnetic particle testing)
VT (Visual Testing)
UT (Ultrasonic), ET (Electromagnetic), RT (Radiographic)
FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate
5+ years inspection experience at a large transport aircraft facility
Knowledge of Federal Airline Regulations (FARs) - especially 121,145 and 25
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

ASNT (American Society of Non-Destructive Testing) Level II in at least one method of Non-Destructive Testing a plus
PT (Liquid Penetrant testing) – 24 formal hours and 210 OJT total
MT (Magnetic particle testing) – 24 formal hours and 280 OJT total
VT (Visual Testing)
UT (Ultrasonic), ET (Electromagnetic), RT (Radiographic) - 80 formal hours and 800 OJT total

Responsibilities

Responsible for the technical content and control of the non-destructive testing (NDT) procedures and processes used in the maintenance of aircraft, airframe, and engines.
Develops and/or authors procedures to implement new inspections for improving reliability/airworthiness of aircraft, engines, or their components.
Originates and/or approves any revision to these procedures and is responsible for maintaining the NTM (Nondestructive Test Manual) (United Nondestructive Test Manual).
Evaluates new equipment and merging technologies to meet new or future inspection needs.
Identifies opportunities for improving the reliability and/or efficiency of existing procedures and processes.
Acts as primary contact/liaison with OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturer) and between Engineering and Inspection organizations for NDT procedural or process issues.
Recommends appropriate inspection processes for non-routine damage occurrences, reviews new OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) inspection requirements to ensure accuracy and investigates and recommends inspection alternatives.
Provide work direction to stay familiar with an operational plan to aircraft inspectors
Provide short term guidance and direction to inspectors as needed.
Ensure quality control procedures and inspections are done according to Federal Air Regulations and the United Airlines Continuous Airworthiness Maintenance Program (CAMP)
Position is a supervisory member of the Air Carriers Inspection Unit in compliance with 14CFR121.369(8) and 14CFR121.371b and as such has inspection decision authority and responsibility
May support other Air Operators in the performance of maintenance and is responsible to ensure the work performed aligns with the customers regulatory and maintenance program requirements.
Participates as a partner with overall Maintenance Team to ensure quality systems are in place and effective.
Provide technical oversight of the NDT inspection process used for maintaining the airworthiness of aircraft, engines, and components in any applicable ASNT (Americal Society of Non-Destructive Testing) levels
Supports the team in investigations in specific NDT areas that are conducted by the airline, which may include FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) or industry requests.
Apply continuous process improvements for reliability and/or efficiency of existing procedures.
Works with management to interface with industry, regulatory and/or governmental agencies to establish policies and procedures governing the future of the industry.
