About The Position

Cultural and Heritage Programs is responsible for multi-disciplinary arts centres, heritage and museum facilities and structures, the delivery of arts, heritage and museum public programming and events, volunteer program development, audience development, and exhibits and research. You work with management to supervise full-time and part-time staff to establish, oversee and foster an effective complement of museum programs and indoor and outdoor events for the Cumberland Heritage Village Museum. You recommend appropriate service delivery strategies and plans for museum heritage programming and oversee museum operations that include managing projects and museum operations for large special events. You also develop and recommend new methods and practices for the management of staff that support the programming and events at city museums. You are required to work outside for part of day to oversee operations for the villagers/ grounds/ buildings/ animals.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 year university degree in social sciences, humanities, education or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of varied and incremental supervisory experience
  • Experience in volunteer and staff recruitment
  • Current Standard First Aid, CPR and/or AED certificates
  • English oral, reading, writing
  • Must be familiar with applicable health and safety legislation, have knowledge of any potential or actual danger to health or safety in the workplace, and have knowledge of appropriate actions to be taken in order to ensure the health and safety of staff in accordance with applicable legislation and City policies and procedures
