About The Position

The Melt Supervisor is the frontline leader responsible for safely managing the melting and pouring of metal to meet production schedules, alloy specifications, quality standards, and customer requirements. This role oversees furnace operation, charge preparation, metal chemistry, temperature control, deoxidation or alloy additions, pouring practices, heat documentation, equipment readiness, and melt-area personnel. The melt supervisor works closely with quality, engineering, maintenance, shell, and casting operations to ensure each heat is produced consistently, defects related to melting or pouring are prevented, and all work is performed in accordance with established procedures, safety requirements, and metallurgical standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of foundry, melt, casting or metallurgical experience
  • A combination of education and experience will be considered
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before the employees in the organization, communicate effectively with customers, suppliers and leadership throughout the organization.
  • The ability to manage schedules, consider resources, and communicate these needs effectively throughout the organization.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, sit, talk or hear, ascend and descend stairs, ramps, etc., use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to seventy-five (75) pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee must be able to be walking or standing for up to twelve (12) hours.

  • Associates degree in materials science, manufacturing, engineering or related technical field preferred
