About The Position

The Materials Supervisor is responsible for supervising daily activities of materials personnel to ensure safe and efficient storage and retrieval of supplies/components/resources to satisfy internal and external customer requirements. The role involves overseeing the activities of Material Handling personnel, monitoring production material to ensure adequate inventory levels, and accurately maintaining inventory levels through computer data entry. The supervisor will also monitor suppliers and carriers for timely deliveries, update and maintain computer data for database integrity, plan individual development with direct reports, arrange special pick-ups and deliveries, review employee performance, and coach employees. Issues that cannot be resolved are communicated to Human Resources with an action plan. Additionally, the role involves identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities and performing any other duties assigned by the manager.

  • Ability to maintain predictable and regular attendance, arrive to designated location on time, or be at assigned location ready to work for assignment (plant, corporate office, or remote).

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the activities of Material Handling personnel and assist when necessary.
  • Monitor production material to ensure adequate inventory levels.
  • Monitor and report receipts and other inventory-related data on the computer to accurately maintain inventory levels of production material.
  • Assist cycle counters to ensure accurate inventory accountability.
  • Monitor suppliers and commercial carriers to ensure that delivery schedules are consistently met and any error rectified on a timely basis.
  • Update and maintain computer data (ex. Trailer maps, warehouse locations, etc.) to ensure database integrity.
  • Plan goals and individual development with each direct report.
  • Arrange for and follow up on special pick-ups and deliveries.
  • Review employee performance and coach employees on a regular basis.
  • Communicate issues that cannot be resolved to Human Resources and develop an appropriate action plan with HR to correct the issue.
  • Identify opportunities for Continuous Improvement, ensure that continuous improvement activities are planned, implemented, measured, reported and reviewed in the respective area of responsibility.
