About The Position

Oversee and direct the daily activities of supervisees, including trial preparation, investigations, courtroom advocacy, written pleadings, brief filings, client relations, legal research, and other activities normally associated with the delivery of legal services. Function as a legal expert regarding proper case preparation, handling and disposition. Act in the capacity of a resource person to provide both guidance and materials to ensure that the appropriate legal representation occurs. Responsible for the supervision of various activities, including planning and direction, personnel, and general administrative services. Ensure standards and policy directives are achieved and maintained. This position is Actively Recruited and at Will.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited law school with a Juris Doctorate (JD) is required
  • Four (4) years as a criminal, immigration, or family defense attorney or directly related experience.
  • Two (2) years of prior supervisory or lead experience.
  • License to practice law in the state of Illinois.
  • Knowledge equivalent to that of a practicing criminal defense attorney or civil litigant, including, but not limited to, areas such as criminal or civil procedure, trial advocacy, and evidence.
  • Ability to perform tasks under highly stressful situations in diverse circumstances; skill in dealing with multiple cases and projects of varying complexity and priority.
  • Willingness and ability to travel using own car, shuttles, buses, subways and/or trains is required.
  • Ability to enable a collaborative and teaming culture, and provide day to day direction of tasks.
  • Ability to perform escalated or more highly complex work similar to the work done by staff being supervised.
  • Ability to effectively delegate tasks to staff and collaborate with leadership to achieve organizational or department success.
  • Ability to align team's tasks with departmental procedures and objectives and serve as a reliable resource for other employees in an area of expertise.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain license and/or certification requirements.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
