About The Position

This role provides day-to-day supervision of the laboratory section and functions as a general and technical supervisor as listed in CAP, CLIA, and NJDOHSS Regulations. The position establishes procedure protocols for the section, sets the technical direction, and maintains familiarity with the current literature of the respective discipline. The Supervisor sets an example of professional integrity, maintains all necessary records for compliance with inspection agencies, analyzes problems effectively, makes decisions after considering alternatives, and keeps supervisors informed of developments. They promote a professional atmosphere through courteous communication, observe and respect privacy and confidentiality, and demonstrate mission and values. Collaboration with peers, physicians, and the healthcare team is essential. The role also involves maintaining a safe and comfortable environment, complying with infection control and safety policies, and maintaining competence through continuing education. Participation in data collection for quality improvement and improving performance based on QI activities are also key responsibilities. The Supervisor identifies the purpose of using the AIDET principle and acknowledges customers with a smile, eye contact, and pleasant greeting.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree
  • 2 –4 years related experience
  • Chemistry experience required
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to supervise staff
  • Successfully completes initial competency verification for specialty area
  • Influenza Vaccinations are a requirement for employment. If you are not currently vaccinated you will be required to receive the vaccination prior to hire date, during the influenza season, if you are offered employment, unless you request and receive an approved medical exemption.
