About The Position

Located in the Phoenix, Ariz., suburb of Gilbert, the Mercy Gilbert Medical Center, is a 198-bed, not-for profit hospital with more than 1,300 team members and almost 900 doctors on staff representing all major specialties. In 2014, Phoenix Children’s Hospital launched a 22-bed pediatric unit inside the hospital. Mercy Gilbert opened in 2006 and has been a vital part of the growing community. Today it is the fifth largest employer in Gilbert. During the fiscal year ending June 30, 2016, Mercy Gilbert provided more than $24 million in community benefit. As a result of Dignity Health’s mission to deliver health care and partner with the community, more than 42,000 people in the East Valley were reached through community health services. The Laboratory Phlebotomy Supervisor manages, coordinates, and participates in all activities of the phlebotomy, accession and clerical sections of the laboratory. This role performs, trains, and reviews all duties of the Phlebotomist, including routine blood collection, and also performs blood collections on neonates and infants. The supervisor demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in the inpatient setting. They supervise the activities of Phlebotomy and Specimen Receiving to maintain high work quality, productivity, and morale of the phlebotomy team. The supervisor actively participates and assists in administrative functions such as scheduling, ordering supplies, problem resolution, counseling, evaluating, interviewing, and helps ensure the efficient daily operation of the Laboratory Department in accordance with the Laboratory Customer Service Standards. Competency in all aspects of phlebotomy and lab assistants is required.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years experience in a moderate or high complexity laboratory setting.
  • ASCP

Responsibilities
