Requirements

  • High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent required.
  • 3 years previous work experience in a greenhouse, agriculture or farm
  • Ability to obtain a Pesticide License in the Province of Ontario
  • Demonstrated accuracy, thoroughness, diligence, and strong attention to detail when recording information.
  • Strong communication skills and proven success in communicating effectively at all levels.
  • Ability to motivate, influence, problem solve and be a change agent.
  • Demonstrated reliability, punctuality and commitment by ensuring work responsibilities and goals are met.
  • Ability to promote and follow greenhouse safety guidelines for items such as safe work practices, PPE, and biosecurity.

Responsibilities

  • Daily monitoring of scouts' activities scouting of pest and disease in the greenhouse to ensure IPM standards and initiatives being met.
  • Communicating work schedules and procedures and coordinating activities with other departments under the guidance of the IPM Manager.
  • Completing weekly monitoring and recording of beneficial insects versus pest population and verify detailed records on all disease presence.
  • With the IPM Manager, planning sprays according with the weekly pest and disease presence.
  • Processing purchase orders in a timely manner for all the IPM supplies, obtaining packing slips, maintaining inventory levels and submitting required paperwork for processing.
  • Working with accounting to resolve open PO's and missing paperwork for IPM supplies.
  • Following IPM protocols of pest and disease management.
  • Following all food and workplace safety policies related to personal protective equipment, applicator certification and training, chemical application and storage, record keeping, personal hygiene, illness, etc.
  • Organizing and assisting in Bio applications as needed.
  • Assisting in the management of plant testing as needed.
  • Assisting in the management of all IPM trials (bio's, programs)
