About The Position

The Supervisor, Industry Engagement and Development is responsible for providing strategic and operational oversight in planning, developing, organizing, monitoring, and delivering services related to Industry Engagement and Development. Working closely with all sectors of industry as well as faculties and services within the University, this role is responsible for establishing processes, procedures and metrics that optimize resources and foster collaboration to engage employers in career events and experiential learning activities. The Supervisor’s primary goal is oversight over the functioning of their team and operational continuity within their portfolio.

Requirements

Undergraduate degree in business, marketing or other relevant fields or equivalent combination of education and experience.
5 years of experience in business-to-business development and sales, marketing, recruitment, or other related experiences.
5 years of leadership and supervision experience, preferably in a post-secondary education context, with increasing responsibilities.
Bilingual written and spoken (French and English)
A demonstrated commitment to client services and customer service.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Able to work under pressure and meet firm deadlines.
Strong analytical skills to compile and analyze data and to produce complex reports.
Demonstrated technical software skills using MSOffice Suite (intermediate to advanced proficiency using Word and Excel) and CRM systems.
Flexible schedule and willingness to travel locally and regionally for industry meetings and events, in accordance with the applicable collective agreement.
Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.

Responsibilities

Implement standardized processes and procedures required to maintain operations and continuity of service, including, but not limited to, procedures regarding employer engagement and development as well as collaborations with faculties and other services, in a business-development capacity.
Act as an expert to provide leadership and innovation in employer relationship management in order to increase student placement rates over the short, medium, and long term.
Hire and supervise staff under their responsibility in accordance with university policies: performance management, resource planning, team goal setting, as well as establishing their development and training plans. Ensure accountability of team members in carrying out their functions to achieve and maintain high standards of quality from the service.
Act as an expert and provide advice on the development of strategies, procedures, and internal processes that maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of the service for all staff under their supervision. Advise, guide, and train staff under their responsibility and ensure they have the necessary training and tools for the effective and efficient performance of their responsibilities, and that processes and activities are tailored to student needs. Ensure coordination, distribution, and review of their work according to equitable task allocation and workload. Develop and implement a training program that meets the needs of staff to ensure optimal quality and efficiency of operations and service to students
Play a pivotal role in shaping and enhancing IT platforms, including the Experiential Learning Platform, by identifying challenges, collaborating with stakeholders, and supporting the implementation of effective solutions.
Ensure that all communications with clients (emails, letters, mass emails, websites, etc.) are accurate and of the highest quality. Establish and maintain working relationships between faculties, the communications team and other sector supervisors to ensure accuracy and alignment across various mediums.
Analyze data and business processes to improve results and service quality. Evaluate and enhance tracking and IT tools and develop key performance indicators to ensure targets are met. Develop, refine and implement best practices to understand client expectations and needs.
Actively engage in business development activities to establish collaborations with key internal and external stakeholders, chambers of commerce, professional and industry associations, and attend targeted networking events to promote experiential learning at the University of Ottawa.
Plan for and implement the operational budget. Identify efficiency and cost savings opportunities. Identify needs for advances in technologies or products that would further enhance the service offering to support staff that they supervise as well as the student population.
