About The Position

The Supervisor in Training, Distribution, under the guidance of the Distribution Manager, will support the operations of a high-volume outbound Business-to-Consumer and Business-to-Business small parcel environment. The position will assist with the supervision of day-to-day operations in one of the segments from inbound to outbound and liaise with other departments to ensure a smooth flow of operations. Through your work, you will continuously improve the functionality and level of service that the Distribution Center provides to our customers.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of Leadership experience leading a team directly or indirectly
  • Ability to manage people and performance metrics
  • Ability to plan, adapt, and use different organizational skills to manage time effectively
  • Intermediate communication and leadership skills
  • Intermediate skills with general PC usage and MS Office applications
  • Willing to work flexible schedules/shifts (6pm-2:30am) and commit the time required to get the job done

Responsibilities

  • Supervise distribution operations for a given work shift and functional area(s), ensuring all work is performed in accordance with standard operating procedures to accomplish warehouse and organization goals
  • Lead, manage, and mentor a team of distribution associates in a specified department within a very fast-paced and high-volume environment. Develop their full potential, ensuring your team meets performance objectives in order to fulfill and exceed our customers’ expectations
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities for all HR related activities for the team to include but not limited to, assist in recruitment, promotion, retention and termination activities under the direction of the Distribution Manager
  • Monitor and manage all aspects of team member performance to include training, coaching, development, and administering write-ups/counseling
  • Oversee daily activities of team leads and ensure a cross-trained workforce is available that utilizes proper methods and standard operating procedures of a job function to include conducting the training of new hires
  • Complete Safety, Waste, and/or Gemba Walks multiple times per shift; be a highly visible leader that is connected with the associates and fosters a high level of engagement
  • Study, standardize, and continuously improve procedures to increase efficiency and accuracy of team members in an effort to, reduce costs and drive departmental productivity
  • Generate unique solutions and embrace new ideas that help sustain and grow our business
  • Assist interdepartmental teams in continuously improving and standardizing the flow as well as coordinate and prioritize special requests, ensuring that customer needs are met
  • Be involved with Lean Six Sigma or other Continuous Improvement Projects
  • Document and maintain warehouse procedures as they relate to the Inbound/Outbound/ Inventory functions
  • Ensure all procedures are followed for building security and loss prevention
  • Communicate policies to Associates and act as a supervisory information source for the team, to ensure compliance, consistency, and taking corrective action when needed
  • Keep equipment operating by having the team adhere to operating instructions, scheduling preventive maintenance, troubleshooting breakdowns, and calling for repairs
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate all day-to-day activities of the warehouse department to ensure an organized, safe, and sanitary work environment that is in compliance with the Company’s policies, OSHA and government regulations
