Requirements

  • High school graduation or GED required.
  • Two years' experience in a similar healthcare position desired.
  • Ability to work with minimal or close supervision.
  • Must conduct all business in a professional manner and with a high level of confidentiality.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) plus willingness to learn other computer programs.
  • Ability to work indoors for the majority of the workday (fluorescent lights, HVAC system, carpeted and tile flooring, normal office noise levels).
  • Ability to work in time-sensitive or stressful situations.
  • Exposed to physical/verbal abuse by certain residents under mental or physical impairment.
  • Exposure to needles, infections, wounds, medical equipment, and the like.
  • Sit in a chair / stand for extended periods.
  • Respond to medical emergencies in all areas of the campus.
  • Assist with resident evacuations.

Nice To Haves

  • Current certification as Certified Nursing Assistant preferred.
  • Current certification as Medication Technician preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides administrative support including scheduling and conducting care plans.
  • Completes non-nursing audits and forms.
  • Coaches team members and serves as a peer coach for floor staff.
  • Represents the campus positively, fostering respect and courtesy for residents and employees.
  • Works within campus programs to promote safety and well-being.
  • Upholds the campus’s Mission Statement.
  • Maintains HIPAA standards and ensures confidentiality of medical information.
  • Organizes and supervises direct care staff (CNAs and Med Techs) in daily and weekly tasks.
  • Reports items/incidents for disciplinary action to the Director of Nursing Services and supports staff performance evaluations.
  • Reviews, organizes, and amends resident charts and care plans.
  • Reviews, organizes, and amends MARs and physician’s orders.
  • Administers prescription medications at appropriate times for the assigned unit during shift.
  • Signs off on all medications at the time of administration when necessary.
  • Transfers new prescriptions to the MAR from physician’s orders or admission orders.
  • Faxes all prescription orders to the pharmacy at the time of resident admission.
  • Attends care plan meetings and assists with care plan assessments.
  • Assists residents with activities of daily living (personal hygiene, social/wellness activities, dining, safety, bathing, dressing, transporting).
  • Performs resident assessments and documents changes, occurrences, or reactions in the proper chart and computerized assessment tool.
  • Takes and records vital signs for residents.
  • Assesses equipment needs for direct care staff and healthcare buildings, reporting concerns to the Director of Nursing Services.
  • Interfaces with physicians, hospitals, case workers, pharmacies, therapy groups, healthcare agencies, and other professional healthcare representatives.
  • Acknowledges and follows the Resident Bill of Rights.
  • Responsible for staffing CNAs and Med Techs.
  • Responsible for knowledge of fire and safety procedures, including blood-borne pathogens and disaster preparedness.
  • Maintains professional development by attending in-service and continuing education programs.
  • Trains in elopement procedures.
  • Provides assistance to residents in the dining room (serving, bussing, order taking, refilling beverages).
  • Confirms doctor appointments and makes transportation reservations.
  • Changes bed linens and cleans resident rooms and bathrooms.
  • Leads and participates in daily activity programs with residents, families, and staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Healthcare Administration.
  • Serves as Administrator in Charge in the absence of the Director of Healthcare Administration when assigned.
  • Will be required to work weekends.
