SUPERVISOR II- MET LAB Position Description: Supervises laboratory practices, procedures, and processes. Job responsibilities involve managing, directing, and coordinating the efforts of Receiving, Data Analyst, Macro etch (DI) and Metallographic inspection or Mechanical and Magnetic Testing per industry specification in a cost-effective manner that supports both our internal and external customers. Ensures maintenance of equipment and safety of laboratory users. Coordinates schedules and activities. Interfaces with internal technical personnel, Customers and outside Quality governing bodies to ensure testing is in compliance with industry standards. Coordinate the procurement of supplies and services, which includes outside laboratory testing if required for the efficient operation of the assigned area. Update, maintain and write Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to support testing methods in assigned areas. Maintain all calibration of equipment needed to perform all required testing within the specifications as outlined in the SOPs. Supervises group leaders and lab employees. Provides coaching and mentoring to develop team and achieve department goals. May take a leadership role in lieu of manager as needed in personnel actions such as hiring, performance and disciplinary measures. Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma.
  • 7+ years’ experience in Metallurgical staff or Quality Lab
  • 1-2 years Supervisory position required, 3+ years preferred
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement and root cause problem solving method

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Materials Science or Metallurgy preferred.
