About The Position

The person in this position mentors and develops maintenance personnel. They are responsible for managing a team of personnel, creating work schedules for maintenance mechanics, and looking for opportunities to reduce overtime by collaborating with business partners to schedule work during normal working hours. The person in this role must determine both insourcing and outsourcing opportunities to maintain the overall backlog. They are responsible for ensuring a safe, compliant and cost-efficient maintenance operation and have responsibility for improving productivity and quality of maintenance by eliminating potential delays and obstacles. This position will ensure the process systems are maintained in a reliable, cost effective, and compliant manner to meet business partner requirements.

Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED
  • Minimum 2 years' experience as a supervisor OR minimum 3 years' experience in a craftsperson, mechanic, or technician role
  • Must possess a valid driver's license

Responsibilities

  • Mentor and develop maintenance personnel.
  • Manage a team of personnel.
  • Create work schedules for maintenance mechanics.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce overtime by collaborating with business partners to schedule work during normal working hours.
  • Determine insourcing and outsourcing opportunities to maintain the overall backlog.
  • Ensure a safe, compliant, and cost-efficient maintenance operation.
  • Improve productivity and quality of maintenance by eliminating potential delays and obstacles.
  • Ensure process systems are maintained in a reliable, cost-effective, and compliant manner to meet business partner requirements.
  • Comply with all HSE aspects, support departmental HSE plans, meet goals and objectives (i.e. LOTO).
  • Promote the use of Be-Safe, Safe Start, LIFE, and other safety programs.
  • Manage Be-Safe submissions and Gensuite action tracker activities.
  • Provide a safe working environment by continued development of the safety efforts.
  • Engage the team in safety initiatives.
  • Verify that the work has been completed in compliance with safety standards.
  • Ensure personnel learning plans are accurate for their roles and training compliance is maintained at 100%.
  • Ensure equipment and facilities are maintained in a manner fit for use and in accordance with housekeeping and fit and finish standards.
  • Maintain a state of inspection readiness.
  • Verify that the work has been completed in compliance with quality standards.
  • Ensure that there is an adequate number of qualified personnel.
  • Ensure that only qualified personnel are assigned to perform work.
  • Support communications between functional teams.
  • Use information systems to better manage work and communicate with customers (i.e., GMARS, Outlook, Word, Excel, Business Objects, etc.).
  • Ensure work orders have correct information (location, GL account, etc.).
  • Manage the backlog by establishing maintenance work schedules and coordinating with impacted teams.
  • Manage free issue maintenance parts.
  • Review all completed work orders for proper documentation and close the work order.
  • Ensure that staff have a job description that adequately describes their duties.
  • Oversee development of performance management plans for the maintenance organization that are aligned with organizational and corporate priorities.
  • Develop direct reports by identifying skill gaps, providing coaching, and addressing performance issues.
  • Manage succession-planning activities for key positions in the department.
  • Utilize recognition tools as appropriate to reward individual and team accomplishments.
  • Participate in the selection of maintenance personnel.
  • Meet regularly with your group to share information, learning points, action and business plans, metrics, areas for improvement and recognition.
