About The Position

The HVAC Supervisor leads the day-to-day operation of Natura’s HVAC, chiller, and environmental control systems across the Sacramento campus, and directly supervises a team of three HVAC Technicians. This is a working, hands-on supervisory role: the Supervisor is expected to be on the floor and in the mechanical spaces performing installation, maintenance, diagnostics, and emergency repairs alongside the team, while owning technician scheduling, work assignment, and accountability. The role requires advanced technical knowledge and strong troubleshooting judgment, since the Supervisor is the final escalation point for complex system failures that put environmentally sensitive cultivation and GMP manufacturing areas at risk.

Requirements

7+ years of progressive experience as an HVAC technician in a commercial or industrial environment.
2+ years of experience supervising, leading, or acting as lead technician over a team of technicians.
EPA Section 608 Universal Certification required.
Advanced understanding of the principles of air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating.
Working knowledge of commercial chiller systems.
Working knowledge of commercial dehumidification systems.
Proficient in balancing air and water treatment systems in line with HVAC protocols.
Demonstrated ability to diagnose complex electrical, mechanical, and control system faults independently.
Experience with building automation systems (BAS/BMS) and environmental monitoring and controls.
Experience creating and managing preventive maintenance schedules, ideally within a CMMS.
Ability to plan and manage technician schedules, hold a team accountable to standards, and document performance.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write clear work instructions and maintenance records.
Ability to respond to after-hours emergency calls and support a 24/7 operating facility.
Must be at least 21 years of age and able to pass a background check in accordance with state cannabis regulations.

Nice To Haves

MET certification, journeyman card, or equivalent trade credential.
Experience in a GMP, pharmaceutical, food manufacturing, cleanroom, or controlled environment agriculture facility.
Experience with high-load dehumidification and tight temperature/humidity (VPD) control.
Familiarity with boilers, pumps, cooling towers, and related mechanical utilities.
Experience managing vendors, service contracts, and maintenance budgets.

Responsibilities

Supervising, scheduling, and directing the daily work of three HVAC Technicians, including shift coverage, on-call rotation, overtime approval, and time and attendance.
Assigning, prioritizing, and closing out work orders and service requests; balancing planned preventive maintenance against emergency and unplanned repairs.
Owning and continuously improving the preventive maintenance (PM) program for all HVAC, chiller, dehumidification, and environmental control equipment, including PM schedules, task lists, and completion tracking.
Performing hands-on installation, maintenance, and repair of ventilation, air conditioning, chiller, and dehumidification systems and equipment alongside the team.
Serving as the highest-level technical escalation point for diagnosing complex electrical, mechanical, and control system faults; leading root cause analysis on repeat failures.
Responding to and directing emergency repairs promptly and efficiently, including after-hours calls, to protect critical environmental conditions in cultivation and manufacturing areas.
Setting clear performance expectations, coaching and developing technicians, conducting performance reviews, and documenting and addressing performance or conduct issues in partnership with Human Resources.
Identifying skill gaps and delivering technical direction, cross-training, and on-the-job training to build depth on the team.
Ensuring all maintenance activity is documented accurately and on time in accordance with GMP requirements, including daily logs, equipment records, work order history, and change documentation.
Maintaining compliance with EPA refrigerant handling, tracking, and reporting requirements, and ensuring the team follows all safety programs including lockout/tagout, confined space, hot work, fall protection, and PPE requirements.
Supporting internal and external audits and inspections by maintaining audit-ready records and demonstrating system control.
Managing spare parts and critical spares inventory, generating purchase requests, and controlling maintenance spend against budget.
Coordinating and overseeing outside contractors and vendors, including scope of work, scheduling, site access, safety orientation, quality of work, and invoice verification.
Providing input on capital projects, equipment upgrades, and system commissioning, including recommendations to improve reliability, energy efficiency, and cost of operation.
Identifying maintenance risks on equipment and escalating reliability concerns and long-term repair or replacement needs to leadership.
Reporting on team performance, PM completion, downtime, and open work orders to the Facilities/Maintenance leadership team.
