About The Position

This position is responsible for maintaining the grounds of industrial, commercial, or public property. This includes tasks such as cutting grass, trimming hedges, maintaining flowerbeds, performing snow and ice control, planting grass, flowers, and shrubs, watering lawns, removing litter, and repairing fences and other structures. The role also involves assisting with repairs to roads, walks, buildings, and mechanical equipment, and cleaning various areas. Safety is a key component, requiring adherence to OSHA and company safety rules, wearing personal protective equipment, and complying with specific safety programs like EM 385-1-1. The position also requires knowledge of Quality Assurance/Control principles, Operations Security (OPSEC), and Property Control for Government Furnished Property (GFP). Interpersonal skills for teamwork and a customer-focused approach are essential, along with the ability to perform other tasks as directed by the Project Manager/Supervisor.

Requirements

Cutting grass, using walking-type or riding mowers (less than 2000 lbs.)
Trimming hedges, and edges around curbs and walkways
Maintaining flowerbeds using hedge trimmers, clippers, and edging tools
Performing snow and/or ice control
Planting grass, flowers, and shrubs
Watering lawn and shrubs
Removing leaves, paper or other litter
Repairing and painting fences, gates, benches, tables, guardrails, and outbuildings
Removing unwanted trees and placing mulch on plants
Assisting fertilize or herbicide lawn, shrubs, and trees
Assisting in repair of roads, walks, buildings, and mechanical equipment
Cleaning comfort stations, offices, workshop areas, and parking lots by sweeping, washing, mopping and polishing
Follow OSHA and company safety rules and regulations
Comply with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures, including wearing required personal safety equipment
Demonstrate interpersonal skills to work well within a team environment with a customer-focused approach and aptitude for continuous improvement serving internal and external customers
Knowledge of Quality Assurance/Control principles
Adherence to Operations Security (OPSEC) standard operations procedures
Adherence to the Property Control Plan for management of Government Furnished Property (GFP)
Adherence to the safety and health program that complies with EM 385-1-1 and applicable OSHA, DOD, Armed Forces Branch(s), Federal, state, and local safety, environmental and health requirements
Maintain a site-specific Accident Prevention Plan (APP) in accordance with Appendix A, EM 385-1-1

Responsibilities

Maintain grounds of industrial, commercial or public property such as buildings, camp and picnic grounds, parks, playgrounds, greenhouses and athletic fields.
Repair structures and equipment, performing one or more of the following tasks: cutting grass, using walking-type or riding mowers (less than 2000 lbs.), trimming hedges, and edges around curbs and walkways, maintaining flowerbeds using hedge trimmers, clippers, and edging tools.
Perform snow and/or ice control on walk areas around all Government furnished buildings, sidewalks, steps, and on walkways between buildings and parking areas to assure personnel and equipment safety and to perform work requirements.
Plant grass, flowers, and shrubs, water lawn and shrubs during dry periods, using hose or activating sprinkler system, pick up and burn or cart away leaves, paper or other litter, repair and paint fences, gates, benches, tables, guardrails, and outbuildings.
Remove unwanted trees and place mulch on plants.
Assist fertilize or herbicide lawn, shrubs, and trees using ground spreader or sprayers.
Assist in repair of roads, walks, buildings, and mechanical equipment, and may clean comfort stations, offices, workshop areas, and parking lots by sweeping, washing, mopping and polishing.
Follow OSHA and company safety rules and regulations.
Comply with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures, including wearing required personal safety equipment.
