About The Position

Manages and ensures efficient construction of General Construction (GC), Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing projects and repairs throughout the facility. Reviews all construction documents. Manages contractors and coordinates activities with Facilities and Hospital staff. Develops and maintains a working knowledge of General Construction, Architectural, MEP Building Systems and applicable codes and regulations. Supervises construction projects for the Office of Engineering Facilities Operations. Provides design and construction support services to various NYPH Departments. Reviews and monitors Office of Facilities Development construction projects to ensure that all Hospital standards are met and that the projects properly coordinate with the existing MEP infrastructure. Ensures compliance with NYC Bldg. Code, DOH, construction policies/procedures and standards. Ensures compliance with curricula for the commissioning and acceptance of all GC, MEP systems and project closeout requirements. Surveys areas of construction prior and after construction as required. Coordinates field changes with outside consultants and in house staff. Maintains adequate supply of materials and equipment. Participates in the selection of vendors and prepares purchase requisitions. Reviews completed job orders. Ensures all work is captured on the CMMS system in a timely manner. Attends and participates in weekly scheduling meetings with the Planner/Schedulers. Works closely with all maintenance and operation shops. Prepares departmental status reports on work and project activities for senior departmental management. Participates in the preparation and tracking of the operating budget, monthly variance reports, BID proposals, procurement process, etc. This is a full time day position at NewYork-Presbyterian / Columbia University Irving Medical Center.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 7-10 years construction supervision in major healthcare center of other organization with similar responsibilities
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Knowledge in the use of CMMS systems to organize and track staff work performance
  • Available 24/7 via pager
