About The Position

The Gas Training Supervisor leads a team whose work prepares PSE’s gas workforce for safe, reliable operations. Supervises and develops Technical Trainers and Training Program Managers, combining strong people leadership with learning and development expertise. Develops training strategies and partners with Gas Operations leadership and subject matter experts to translate business needs into achievable training plans. This role offers the opportunity to strengthen workforce readiness, shape long-term training programs and build a sustainable operation where employees can do their best work. All PSE employees are expected to uphold the safety compliance standards inherent in PSE’s operating and/or field procedures related to work responsibilities and promote and support a culture of total safety. Additionally, employees need to demonstrate commitment to conduct business honestly, ethically and consistent with our core values and Code of Conduct. All duties are to be performed in accordance with all regulatory compliance obligations.

Requirements

BA in education or adult learning and 5 years training experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience necessary to perform the job.
1 year of leadership and/or supervisor experience.
Effective relationship building / staff development skills.
Must possess excellent communications skills; written and verbal.
Be highly organized and goal-oriented.
Proficiency with spreadsheets, data bases, word documents and other office applications.
Possess knowledge of adult learning principles, learning styles and generational differences of learners.

Demonstrated success leading and developing training professionals through clear direction, coaching, transparent communication, and consistent follow-through.
Advanced knowledge and demonstrated application of adult learning principles, training needs analysis, instructional design, professional facilitation, performance assessment, and evaluation methods.
Experience building trusted operational partnerships and negotiating training priorities, scope, and resource commitments.
Experience managing multiple training programs or projects, including long-term planning, workload management, and training for operational changes.
Working knowledge of structure and operations of PSE or similar utility, or experience supporting field operations or skilled trades in another safety-sensitive and compliance-driven industry.
Familiarity with Operator Qualification (OQ) programs or comparable workforce qualification requirements.

Responsibilities

Demonstrates a passion for safety. Promotes and supports a culture of total safety including eliminating at-risk behaviors by conducting safety audits and inspections, eliminating hazards and near misses, and attending safety meetings.

Oversees training and development of employees directly and indirectly managed and makes effective staffing decisions. Ensures required training is successfully completed.

Conducts and ensures the completion of performance reviews.
Provides coaching, direction, and leadership support to team members to achieve employee, business, customer, and safety results. Keeps employees informed of decisions and business changes, listens to concerns and follows through on commitments.
Responsible for development, implementation, and maintenance of training, assessments, certifications and feedback, including Operator Qualification (OQ) training and performance evaluations.
Ensures delivered training meets department requirements.
Collaborates with instructional development staff and subject matter experts to create job-relevant objectives, practice, assessments, and performance support. Ensures training materials reflect approved procedures and receive technical and instructional review.
Responsible for coordination of Learning Management System (LMS) application within the department and accurate training and qualification records.
Responsible for assessing training results and metrics, using learner performance, supervisor feedback, and relevant operational data to guide improvements.
Collaborates with management to create, maintain and implement a strategic training plan and rolling calendar approved by Operational Training and Gas Operations leadership.
Manages training demand and team capacity. Agrees on scope, timing and resource tradeoffs with business partners when new work affects approved training commitments.
Guides the improvement of training delivery through the management of train-the-trainers programs to develop delivery skills, and training delivery systems via best practices.
Leads continuous improvement of training programs and team processes, including instructor guides, curriculum maintenance, and clear responsibilities for Technical Trainers and Training Program Managers.
Delivers reporting on team’s effectiveness and activities, including progress against plans, resource needs, and risks to training commitments.
Supports and collaborates with department staff and project teams to define training scope, responsibilities, and resources early in capital projects and operational changes.
Engages company leaders, subject matter experts, and employees to assess performance needs before prescribing training. Partners with operational owners to address procedure, process or reinforcement issues that training alone will not resolve.
