About The Position

Under the direction and guidance of the Patient Access Manager, the frontline supervisor is responsible to manage day to day operations for the Patient Access Department, insuring that employees perform multiple tasks necessary to register patients.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience preferred
  • Three to five (3-5) years of Patient Registration experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Supervises Patient Access Senior Patient Registration Officers and Patient Access Coordinators.
  • Acts as a content expert for Patient Registration services.
  • Manages Human Resources, including conducting timely work performance evaluations, recommending hiring/termination of employees, managing performance using coaching, counseling and corrective actions, staffing to budget, managing the appeal process for time off, and interpreting hospital policy and procedures for staff.
  • Develops staff by providing initial orientation for new staff members, monitoring and providing feedback regarding department standard goals, working collaboratively with training coordinators regarding employee needs/competencies, assuring crosstraining of employees to function in all areas of the department/unit, conducting monthly staff meetings, and ensuring staff is provided adequate time for participation in meetings/inservices.
  • Embraces technological solutions to work processes and practices, including functioning with department computer programs, managing payroll online, performing HRAF online, creating job requisitions online, using the Absence Database, using the Aces Database, directing downtime procedures, and functioning with Microsoft products.
  • Fosters a “Culture of Safety” through personal ownership and commitment to a safe environment, including understanding leadership roles during hospital codes, adhering to universal precautions and respiratory etiquette guidelines, and adhering to and assisting staff to understand patient identification policy/procedure and managing corrective action for related performance.
  • Meets leadership standards by developing a Personal Action Plan, submitting 90-day plans and outcomes, attending 40 hours of leadership development and training per year, and maintaining one efficiency for team/unit per year.
