The Freight Operations Supervisor at XPO will lead and supervise all aspects of freight operations. This role involves developing and implementing strategic work procedures, evaluating and assigning workloads, and supervising hourly staff. The supervisor will ensure production goals are met by managing tonnage, payroll, and administrative functions, and will plan employee schedules to meet operational needs and reduce costs. A key responsibility is enforcing all company policies, rules, regulations, and laws, including FMCSR, OSHA, CCMTA, NSC, and DOT regulations. The supervisor will ensure freight is processed, handled, loaded, and delivered in a timely and damage-free manner. They will also coach and develop employees, conduct new hire evaluations, and determine corrective actions for policy violations. The role requires directing a team to meet productivity goals, making recommendations for hiring and terminations, and developing action plans to improve load averages and model compliance. Participation in safety and engagement committees, training employees on safety rules, and monitoring the work environment for safety and productivity are also essential. Daily staff meetings will be conducted to communicate corporate messages and policy revisions. The supervisor will inspect tools and equipment for safe operation and address any unsafe conditions. They will provide input for operational improvements and act as a champion of XPO values. Minimizing shipment rehandle by prioritizing direct loading, headloads, and sector loading while maintaining quality standards is also a key objective.
