This role involves leading and supervising all aspects of freight operations, developing and implementing strategic work procedures, and evaluating, managing, and assigning workloads. The supervisor will oversee hourly staff, act as a primary point of contact for workplace concerns, and ensure production goals are met through managing tonnage, payroll, and administrative functions. Responsibilities also include planning employee schedules, enforcing company and regulatory policies, ensuring timely and damage-free processing and delivery of customer freight, and coaching employees on proper techniques and quality requirements. The role involves conducting new hire evaluations, making recommendations for hiring and termination, developing action plans to improve load average and model compliance, participating in safety and engagement committees, and training employees on safety rules and processes. Additionally, the supervisor will monitor and maintain organization within the shift for safety and productivity, conduct daily staff meetings, inspect tools and equipment, and provide suggestions for operational improvements. The supervisor is expected to champion XPO values and minimize shipment rehandle by prioritizing direct loading, headloads, and sector loading while maintaining quality standards.
