This role involves leading and supervising all aspects of freight operations, developing strategic work procedures, and managing workloads and tasks. The supervisor will oversee hourly staff, ensure production goals are met, and manage administrative functions. They will also be responsible for planning employee schedules, enforcing company policies and regulations, and ensuring timely and damage-free processing and delivery of customer freight. Coaching and developing employees, conducting evaluations, and making hiring recommendations are key aspects of the role. The supervisor will also participate in safety committees, train employees on safety, and maintain organization within the shift to ensure safety and productivity. Daily staff meetings, communication of corporate messages, and inspection of tools and equipment are also required.
